CLARK vs REESE IN SEASON OPENER

CLARK VS REESE IN SEASON OPENER

After an incredibly entertaining and drama-filled 2024 rookie seasons for Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark, we enter the 2025 season with huge expectations. Now with rookie awards out of the picture, Caitlin and Angel will have to show the ability to grow and we saw that on display (May 17, 2025) at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The 2025 WNBA season begins for both these organizations (Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky) with the biggest rivalry in the league, Caitlin Clark versus Angel Reese. This matchup was so hyped that fans from around the world were gathering outside the Fieldhouse hours before tip-off.

From the moment the ball went live, both teams were on attack mode. Angel Reese continues to grab rebounds and Caitlin still hitting threes with a huge green light. It wasn't until the Fever started to increase the intensity on defense that Chicago began to turnover the ball, get blocked, miss open shots and not grab offensive rebounds. This led to Caitlin Clark hitting a sidestep fadeaway three to give the Fever a 13-point lead at the half. (45-32)

Midway through the 3rd quarter, there was an incident involving the two stars, Clark and Reese, that Caitlin fouled Reese on a layup. Reese felt like the foul was unnecessary and too much, which led to the heated confrontation. After the officials reviewed the play, it was deemed a double technical, one for each player. This incident unfortunately overshadowed the performances by Aliyah Boston and Lexie Hull in the 3rd because they were the only ones able to score with 4 minutes to extend the lead to finish the 3rd quarter.

Despite the Indiana Fever blowing out the Chicago Sky the rest of the game, one stat line was able to eclipse everything Angel Reese did (12pts,17rebs) and the first win of the season as well. Caitlin Clark is now tied for the 3rd most TRIPLE-DOUBLEs in WNBA history. Finishing with (20pts,10rebs,10asts) in front of over 17,000 people and millions tuned in. What makes this absurdly impressive is that Clark has played one season of professional WNBA basketball. She is making a statement and beginning a case for league MVP.

The Indiana Fever start the season (1-0) and so does Caitlin Clark vs Angel Reese.

GAME OVER. 93-58
