Florida Panthers vs Seattle Kraken
The start of a west coast road trip for the Florida Panthers leaving cats fans staying up late because of the time difference. The Panthers start the trip after having established a two-game winning streak with wins against the Philadelphia Flyers and San Jose Sharks. The first game of the road trip would be against the Seattle Kraken who enter the game after defeating the New York Rangers. Florida would face a familiar player in Brandon Montour who played for the Panthers last season.
This was a very low scoring goal with the Seattle Kraken opening the scoring with Stephenson assisted by Gourde putting Seattle ahead 1-0. Sergei Bobrovsky made 17 saves total for the game who was in the net tonight instead of Spencer Knight. The Panthers have been on a scoring frenzy recently with 31 goals through the last six games. Florida had two games with six goals and one alone with seven goals with only scoring just one in a loss to Washington which was the least they've scored.
The Panthers could've had a barrage of goals in this game but Daccod did a great job of containing Florida making 32 saves with the Kraken as a whole blocking 18 shots. Barkov would equalize the game for the Panthers in the second period making it 1-1. The third period would have no goals sending the game to OT which also would provide zero goals. The game was sent to a shootout with both goalies having a great game.
In the shootout it would be Sam Reinhart scoring and winning the game for the Panthers by a final score of 2-1 over the Kraken. Florida would regain the lead of the Atlantic Division and zoom up to third in the Eastern Conference. For Seattle they currently sit 11th in the Western Conference and sit sixth in the Pacific Division. The Kraken will go on and host the Boston Bruins as their next game.
Up next for the Florida Panthers is a road game visiting the Vancouver Canucks.
