Florida Panthers vs Ottawa Senators

 Florida Panthers vs Ottawa Senators

It was a great opening night and way to kick off the season for the Florida Panthers as they start the title defense. After a thrashing of the Boston Bruins at home it was time to hit the road for the first away game of the season. Panthers would cross north of the border into Canada to face the Ottawa Senators. This would be the Senators first game of the season after finishing with 37 wins and 47 losses last season. Ottawa is a young team but really feel confident about improving this season.

The Senators came out swinging against the defending champions with Tim Stutzle opening the scoring in the first period putting Ottawa up 1-0. Shane Pinto would double it also in the first period putting the Panthers in an early hole 2-0. These are the cardiac cats so not even a two goal lead is safe as it was evident that the Senators wanted another.

Linus Ullmark was a key factor in the game for the Senators with the Panthers really putting the pressure in the second period but Ullmark came up with big saves all night. Gustav Forsling would be the man that would put Florida on the board cutting the deficit to 2-1. Sergei Bobrovsky despite the goals from Ottawa also had a decent night tallying 24 saves.

Stutzle would put the dagger in the heart later in the third period with an empty net making 3-1 leaving no time for the Panthers to find an equalizer. Concerning news for Florida in the third period would be the loss of captain Aleksander Barkov due to injury after crashing into the end boards. Senators hand the Panthers the first defeat of the season with the 3-1 scoreline.

Next up for the Florida Panthers is a road game visiting the Buffalo Sabres.
