Inter Miami CF vs Philadelphia Union

Inter Miami CF vs Philadelphia Union

After a week off for Inter Miami CF it was time to get back to the grind with a road trip to Subaru Park to face the Philadelphia Union. Miami would be without Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez as both players were called up to their respective national teams for the start of Copa America. This would give the likes of Leonardo Campana a chance to get a lot more playing time for the duration of the tournament.

It took just three minutes for the Philadelphia Union to get on the board with Miami continuing to concede the first goal in matches. Mikael Uhre would be the Union player to get his team on the board making it 1-0 for the Pennsylvania side. The Union have five wins against the Herons with the South Florida side only having three plus two draws.

The first half continued with Philadelphia applying pressure on Miami with the looking to double the 1-0 lead but Miami would be able to hold up in the back line. Both teams would head to the dressing room at the half with the Union maintaining the one goal lead.

Similar situation occurred to start the second half but now it was Inter Miami's turn and they would equalize the match. In the 47th minute it would be Jordi Alba playing a ball into the box finding Benjamin Cremaschi who would then find Julian Gressel scoring a fantastic volley for 1-1.

The surprising moments of the match in which looked like Inter Miami would have no hope of winning this one arrived when two red cards were given. The red cards arriving in the 69th and 84th minutes which left the team with just nine men. Miami surprisingly were able to win the match late with substitute Leo Afonso taking advantage of a chance making it 2-1 and would secure the three points for the away side.

Next up for Inter Miami CF is a midweek matchup at home welcoming the Columbus Crew to Chase Stadium.
