Inter Miami CF vs Atlanta United

Inter Miami CF vs Atlanta United

The unbeaten streak continues for Inter Miami CF sitting at the top of the Eastern Conference but not comfortably. FC Cincinnati has done a great job of putting pressure on Miami by mirroring results and not letting them get a rest. Miami must make the most out of the two matches this week before they lose Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez for Copa America. The South Florida side welcomed a struggling Atlanta United side to Chase Stadium.

Chase Stadium has been a fortress for Miami and very few have been able to come in and generate a result. Atlanta has always been tricky for Miami and they were looking to get a result and end the unbeaten streak for the Herons. The beginning of the match provided few opportunities in attack with both defenses standing strong. Lionel Messi struggled to do much with the ball when he got it with good pressure from Atlanta.

The defense of Miami started to break down by giving Atlanta's forwards way too much space and time on the attack. The defense continues to be a problem for Miami and this is a major key in terms of giving attackers all the time in the world to take a shot. Saba Lobjanidze in the 44th minute was given time and space making Miami pay with a curling shot to the upper left corner to give the visitors the 1-0 lead.

The home side would enter the second half down one goal which has been a position that they have faced many times before this season and have been able to overcome. Atlanta would make them pay early on in the second half doubling the lead to 2-0. In the 59th minute it was Lobjanidze once again with time and space pin pointing his spot placing it in the lower left corner past Callender.

Messi would fire back as he usually does with the goal coming in the 62nd minute to make it 2-1. The Argentine would place a ball beautifully on the ground towards the far post beating the keeper and bringing life to his team. Unfortunately, United would strike again in the 73rd minute with a goal from Jamal Thiare making it 3-1. This put the match out of reach as Atlanta goes on to take the three points and end Miami's unbeaten streak.

Next up for Inter Miami CF is a home match welcoming St. Louis City to Chase Stadium at the weekend.
