Inter Miami CF vs Sporting Kansas City

Inter Miami CF vs Sporting Kansas City

It was a poor showing at the BBVA Stadium from Inter Miami CF as they were bounced out of the CONCACAF Champions Cup at the hands of Monterrey. It's been a while that Miami has been back on the winners column now left with MLS and Leagues Cup on their agenda. The Herons would fly up to Kansas City for a prime time event with the match being hosted at Arrowhead Stadium the home of Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs with 72,000 in attendance.

It was loud at Arrowhead on Saturday night in the sea of blue that was the Sporting supporters. They definitely brought the hostile atmosphere as Miami struggled to keep possession early on. Midfielder Erik Thommy would open the scoring for the home side in just the 6th minute giving them the 1-0 lead leaving Miami fans concerned. It was a shot from just outside the box that left Drake Callender frozen and saw the shot hit the upper corner.

Lionel Messi did a lot of ball watching in the opening minutes despite the hostile crowd there was a lot of people who came to see the World Cup winner. It didn't take Miami long to respond as a through ball from Messi found Diego Gomez who fired a bullet past the keeper to make it 1-1. This is how fast things can change and how momentum can change with just one play when Messi is on the field.

A big mistake from MLS teams that have fallen to Miami that have occurred is leaving Messi with too much space. Messi would get a pass from David Ruiz and the Argentine had all the space in the world and would fire off a shot with his favorite left foot and into the back of the net. Miami would take the lead 2-1 in the 51st minute.

Sporting would get right back into the match with Thommy earning himself a brace in the 58th minute equalizing the match 2-2. The match would not stayed tied for long as in the 71st minute as Luis Suarez earned his 6th goal of the season giving the visiting team the lead 3-2. Miami would go on to earn the three points with the final score 3-2.

Next up for Inter Miami CF is a home match welcoming Nashville SC to Chase Stadium at the weekend.
