The Miami FC vs Hartford Athletic

The Miami FC vs Hartford Athletic

The Miami FC continues to fight for their playoff lives as they took a crucial hit last weekend with the 1-0 loss at home to Indy Eleven. That loss made them fall out of the playoff projection now sitting in 9th of the Eastern Conference. They're even on points with FC Tulsa so a win on the road against Hartford Athletic can keep the pressure on Tulsa to push for that final spot.

Hartford threw the kitchen sink at Miami right when the first whistle blew putting pressure on the visiting team. The home side are currently at the bottom of the Eastern Conference and mathematically still have a chance at the playoffs but need to start winning matches.

In the 32nd minute it was Miami who would survive the early punches from Hartford and draw first blood. Florian Valot was able to shake his defender playing a ball to Joaquín Rivas who opened the scoring for 1-0.

Miami's goal deflated Hartford and the momentum started to favor the South Florida side. Dominating possession and creating more opportunities is how Miami would go into the dressing room with a one goal lead.

Hartford could not find that rhythm they had when they started off the match to begin the second half. Miami continued dominating possession and creating the dangerous chances. Akinyode would be fouled in the box prompting a penalty for Miami. Rivas would step up and knock it through for 2-0 as well as giving himself a brace.

Rivas would deliver the final blow as well as earning himself a hat trick in the 83rd minute with a strike inside the 18 to make it 3-0. That sealed the deal with Miami FC earning +3 and continuing the pressure for that last playoff spot.

Next up for The Miami FC is a home match at the weekend welcoming rivals the Tampa Bay Rowdies to FIU Stadium.
