Inter Miami CF vs Philadelphia Union
We're reaching the final conclusion of the inaugural Leagues Cup between MLS and Liga MX with a spot on the line for Inter Miami CF to play in the final. Nobody at the beginning of this season believed Miami would be fighting for a cup title but the arrival of Lionel Messi changed everything. They traveled to Subaru Park to face the Philadelphia Union which was set to be a tough task.
It took just a shocking three minutes for Inter Miami CF to get on the board draining the energy out of Subaru Park. Josef Martinez would receive a through ball into the box with the Venezuelan capitalizing on the chance to make it 1-0 and making it his 9th goal of the season.
The man who can't stop scoring added another one to his list in the 20th minute. Messi with a low driven shot from far out beats Andre Blake on the left side for 2-0. Many Philadelphia fans were left saying that this is not the Union team they've been seeing all season as well that Blake could've done a better job.
Robert Taylor would continue his run of form bringing impact to the team with a through ball finding Jordi Alba who would fire across the face of goal and in for 3-0 right before the half. This would be the Spaniards first goal with Inter Miami CF.
There was a sort of pride from the Philadelphia Union who would get one back with captain Alejandro Bedoya providing the goal to make it 3-1.
As it wasn't over already, Miami would tack on another goal to expand the lead to 4-1. The homegrown player David Ruiz would receive a ball from Deandre Yedlin in the box firing across goal and into the back of the net.
The 4-1 victory sends Inter Miami CF into the 2023 Leagues Cup final which will be the first major tournament final for the club.
Next up for Inter Miami CF is a road match visiting Nashville SC at the weekend for the Leagues Cup Final.
