Final match day in the Leagues Cup group stage for Inter Miami CF welcoming Atlanta United to DRV PNK Stadium. This comes off of three points against Cruz Azul thanks to a Lionel Messi free kick for the match winner. A win for Miami sends them to the next round as the match is slated to be Messi's first ever start for the club.




The match started off with a bang in the 8th minute when Sergio Busquets sends a ball over the top finding Messi who would get the shot past his defender and Guzan hitting the post and rebounding back to the Argentine who scored the rebound for 1-0. 



The third goal for Messi in a Miami jersey arrived in the 22nd minute with a lovely combo play involving Robert Taylor and Josef Martinez resulting in a shot at the far post to make it 2-0 for the Herons. 



Messi and Taylor would combine once again at the 44th minute right before the end of the half. The World Cup winner would lay a ball off for Benjamin Cremaschi who took on his defender getting the ball to Taylor who would slot it home for 3-0.



Robert Taylor would finish the match with a double with Messi running deep into the area attracting defenders allowing the Argentine to play it behind the line to Taylor. The Finnish star would slot it off the far post to make it 4-0 for Miami.



The Herons would be victorious 4-0 over Atlanta United advancing to the next round of the Leagues Cup to begin the knockout stages.



Next up for Inter Miami CF is the Round of 32 where they will await their next opponent which is rumored could be rivals Orlando City.
