Miami Hurricanes 2022 season in review

The Miami Hurricanes coming into the 2022 season had the City of Miami, Canes fans, and

college football enthusiasts with their eyes open and ears listening about the moves they were

making, like UM alumni in head coach, Mario Cristobal and new Athletic Director, Dan

Radakovich, who was with the Clemson Tigers when they won the CFP. Everyone was keeping

an eye on “The U” after that but then, big news hit that Michigan’s OC Josh Gattis will be

Miami’s new OC. As time went by Mario Cristobal added a respectable staff which includes, a

new DC Kevin Steele, co-DC Charlie Strong, Assistant HC Alex Mirabal, and others from

Oregon who worked with Mario Cristobal.

Just a couple weeks after Mario was hired, Miami jumped from around 80 th in recruiting to top

15. I was just as shocked as everyone was when I saw this because our former HC, Manny Diaz,

could never recruit talent like Clemson, Notre Dame, Alabama, or even Oregon. When it came

down to big games with Clemson, we always fell to them. We were getting out played physically

and mentally every time.

Then began the season to start it all, BOY OH BOY!!! That did not go as planned, like losing to

Middle Tennessee, Texas A&M, Florida State and Clemson. Miami ended their season (5-7) and

losing the opportunity for a bowl game. Even though, it’s not looking so good, there is a storm

coming. A recruiting storm is being felt around the country from Mario and his staff. Miami is

ranked #8 in the country at the moment in 2023 recruits according to 24/7 Sports. Miami hopes

to also bring in players from the transfer portal to regain some of the position players that have

decided to leave the program like WR, DB, LB, RB, OT and more. Mario has flipped some

players from other schools but we still have a long way to go until we are a championship

program again.
