The Miami FC vs Charleston Battery
The Miami FC returned home for a midweek matchup in which they looked to redeem themselves after a horrific defeat at the hands of Pittsburgh. Charleston as well was looking for redemption after a 3-0 shutout defeat at the hands of the Birmingham Legion. This would be a crucial match for both sides not to fall into a losing streak.
The match started the usual way for Miami with their high press and intensity which would prove lethal in the early going. Romeo Parkes in the 4th minute would go one on one with a defender just outside the 18 being able to get a shot off beat the keeper to make it 1-0. Miami had plenty of chances to extend their lead with 12 overall shots with only three of those on target.
Things didn't go as smoothly for the Battery who dominated possession at 64% but that was about it. They only had seven shots in this match with none of them being on target. Only two corner kicks as well and with those numbers you just aren't going to get much offensive production. They seemed rattled from the very get go with Miami's pace.
After the fourth minute goal from Parkes there wouldn't be much action giving the home side the 1-0 victory and earn +3. The Miami FC currently holds the last playoff spot in 7th place in the Eastern Conference of the USL Championship. The Charleston Battery sit 13th in the Eastern Conference with this loss making it six winless.
Next up for The Miami FC is a road trip up to the Golden State to face Orange County.
