Inter Miami CF vs Chicago Fire
Saturday, February 26- Finally the 2022 Major League Soccer season arrived at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale. The home opener as well as the season opener saw Inter Miami take one point after a scoreless draw with the Chicago Fire.
The new look Miami side came close to opening the scoring with a header by Leonardo Campana assisted by Gonzalo Higuain that struck the crossbar.
The post would deny another goal-scoring opportunity this time for Chicago as Stanislav Ivanov was able to get it to roll past the herons goalkeeper Clement Diop. Former Philadelphia Union star Kacper Przybylko and Swiss international Xherdan Shaqiri played a big role in creating chances for the Fire.
The main factor in this mach was both goalkeepers Diop and Gabriel Slonina who sported a "No war in Ukraine" t-shirt after the match. Slonina would come up big with a goal scoring save coming after a shot from Miami's Jean Mota in the 89th minute.
Next up for the South Florida side will be a road trip to Q2 Stadium to take on Austin FC on Sunday March 6th.
