January 27, 2022- Wednesday night was the first time La Familia got a chance to look at their brand new team at DRV PNK Stadium in a international friendly against Peruvian side Universitario. Major League soccer preseason fixtures are usually played behind closed doors but this might start a change in the league. Inviting South American clubs with strong support around the world makes for a fun soccer atmosphere.

During the off-season Miami went for a full overhaul of the squad that would make the team a lot younger and more physical. 19 players were either loaned or traded with big names like Rodolfo Pizarro, Nico Figal, Leandro Gonzalez-Pirez, and Lewis Morgan being in that list. They've added names like Christopher McVey, Jean Mota, Bryce Duke, Ariel Lassiter, and Leonardo Campana. Inter also picked up two draft picks from the University of Washington, an area that Sporting Director Chris Henderson knows very well after his time with the Seattle Sounders. We've been told this is a roster that Henderson and Manager Phil Neville will take responsibility for.

With four weeks left until opening day vs Chicago Fire, la rosanegra dominated the Peruvian side in what was a rainy night in Fort Lauderdale. From the get go the referee had work to do as the match was being played competitively unlike a friendly. Miami's starting lineup consisted of Clement Diop, Harvey Neville, Ian Fray, Aime Mabika, Christopher McVey, Brek Shea, Victor Ulloa, Jean Mota, Ariel Lassiter, Robbie Robinson, and Gonzalo Higuain. This match saw the likes of Neville and Fray score their debut goals for the first team. The second half was a squad switch seeing the reserve team of Fort Lauderdale CF take the field including Romeo Beckham who had several impressive crosses into the box. The fans appreciated the play of the reserve team ringing out several Ole's from the impressive play.

Inter Miami CF would go on to defeat Universitario by a score of 4-0. Miami will host an opening training session for fans on February 5th at DRV PNK Stadium followed by a string of preseason matches in South Carolina.
